Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an archipelago of 32 islands and cays stretching like stepping stones across the eastern Caribbean. The main island, Saint Vincent, is volcanic and lush - La Soufriere volcano erupted as recently as 2021, blanketing the island in ash. The Grenadine islands to the south are a completely different world: low-lying coral islands with white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, and some of the most exclusive yacht harbors in the Caribbean.

This is a country that most people have seen without knowing it. The Pirates of the Caribbean films were shot here, using Wallilabou Bay as Port Royal. The Tobago Cays, a cluster of five uninhabited islands protected by a horseshoe reef, are one of the most stunning anchorages on Earth. Mustique is where British royals and rock stars have holidayed for decades. Yet the main island of Saint Vincent remains refreshingly untouristy, with a strong Afro-Caribbean culture, breadfruit trees that Captain Bligh brought from Tahiti, and a pace of life that the modern world has largely left alone.
